A Virtual Cafe

Bullfighter's Cafe is the brainchild from a Puerto Rican filmmaker and Chicano artist. Over many meals, including tacos, burritos and chili, Angel Aviles-McClinton and Paul Martinez talked about their culture and experiences growing up Latin. While Paul grew up in a desolate, desert town with little exposure to art, Angel was raised in the heart of New York City, the Mecca of art culture. To their surprise they found they had more in common through art, not only did they share a passion for art they saw a future in technology.  Somehow through a mouth full of tortilla and chili, Angel and Paul thought it would be interesting to create a web site that functioned like their lunch table, a place for Latin's to chat and share their stories.

The name of Bullfighter's Cafe was selected for its familiarity in both North America and European countries. While the Café is not advocating the killing of animals for sport, the metaphor fits. Artists face their own beast of burdens, whether its economics, racism, classism or skill level, they confront their beast to achieve a dream. The intent is that every artist contributing to this site will find inspiration, support, and strength among fellow artists that have stepped into the ring and successfully overcome their bull!

A Simple Goal

Bullfighter's Cafe is a virtual, entertaining, informational web site that will showcase Latin creativity to the Internet community.

Partners

Angel and Paul began their multimedia company called Digital Sol Media, LLC in 2003. They achieved success in gaining clients and freelance-work but they often found themselves cheating time away to create their personal projects. Paul first created a few experimental barrio family animations. Then together Paul and Angel wrote a story titled, "The Doorman", a multimedia story that is currently in development.  As these projects began to absorb more of their time, it became obvious that these projects should be produced under the Bullfighters Café moniker.

As Bullfighters Café grows as an international web site supporting Latin creativity, Angel and Paul will create original media for film, cellular, Internet and television mediums.  It is their goal to make Bullfighters Café a full production studio to ensure that Latin creativity is cultivated and well represented in new technologies.
