Daddy's Girl?

With a resume that reads like a dream, a list of passions, from dance painting to acting, Christie Miró is an artist whose star is on the rise. The movie "Taínos", stars Christie and is the first Puertorican movie to be screened in theaters in digital format. While some might assume, the daughter of a popular TV show host may seem to get all the breaks, she elaborates on how her achievements really came to be with hard work.

CM: Well, I grew in a artistic family. My dad (Eddie Miró) has been a tv show host for over 40 years (he is like Regis is for USA, but for PR), and my mom is a dancer, dance teacher and choreographer. To live among dancers, crew members, models, actors, writers, etc... for me was completely normal. I couldn't stay away from it, because I love it so much.

It wasn't until I was 13 that I started working on a local sitcom for Telemundo called, "La Pensión de Doña Tere". This was my first payed job. I was working as an actress, I was soooooo happy! This was my calling (hahaha)... I thought at that time, without knowing that it was going to become my career!!!

As a kid, I took dance lessons, piano and fine art classes. I went to a Fine Arts high school, Central del Artes Visuales, where I was taught about every art field, but from 10th to 12th grade, I focused in sculpting.

So, I kept acting since I was 13. I wento to college (I have a BA in film production and a minor in drama), while I booked diferent tv shows, theater roles, tv and radio commercials and movies.

In 2003 I began working as an Associate Producer for Libre Expresión, Inc; a production company that produces tv shows for a PBS Station in PR, WIPR Tu Universo Televisión (TUTV), Chan. 6. "EXPRÉSATE." ( view the show online.) It airs Mon-Friday @5pm and again @ 10:30pm. Or WAPA America.

With Libre Expresión, Inc. I not only host the shows, I`m also the associate producer. Right now I just wrapped a tv movie "Mujeres sin Hombres" that`ll air
in Televicentro de Puerto Rico, channel 4. This movie has a great cast,
Sully Díaz, Claribel Medina, Yolandita Monje (she plays my mom). I play Lorena, she is sexually confused and comes out of the closet in the movie. I have my first girl on girl kiss, and my face slapped by my father in the movie. Very happy for this role. It`s very diferent from me and I loved it!

Now I'm taping a tv special for Father`s Day for Los García (an old tv sitcom) that`ll reunite for their 30th anniversary in this Father Day Special. You can see pics and read more here in today`s paper:

About TAINOS!!! The movie is the 1st movie that was projected in movie
theaters in a digital format in Puerto Rico. I was honored when asked to play SARA, the archeology student, who organizes an expedition to La Mora Cave in Comerio, Puerto Rico.

The movie was shot entirely in P.R.. We even camped for an entire weekend to shoot the camping scene. I had a blast! I love so much these guys. I would love to work with them again, soon. They are young, this was their first big production and they were awesome, like they`ve done this a thousand times. They ROCK! Innova Entertainment ROCKS! Benjamin Lopez(director), Eduardo Correa(Producer), the cast, the crew.... I LOVE THEM ALL!!! I enjoyed every single minute of it. From the great vibes on the set, to my character, to the cast and crew... to filming inside caves... with bats flying around....Mmmm...... FILM!.. Gotta love it!!!

Being the daughter of a known talent in the island, many think that I got everything in a silver plate.... NOT! I have to prove to everyone that I`m for real. I`ve busted (beep) to get to where I`m now, I worked hard in drama class and gone from audition to audition. I even went to Mexico to study drama to expand my knowledge. I don’t let anything stop me though. I just love life, and I`m passionate about acting. I hope I can keep growing and keep on learning more and more each day!
